Marie Staunton started out as a Fashion Model in 1986, nearly 25 years ago and had the pleasure of working with designers who then were starting their careers and are now household names, Philip Treacy being just one of them. Marie appeared in the first ever, “Supermodel Show”, in Dublin alongside Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Helena Christensen. She became the face of modelling in Ireland and working both in Ireland and abroad gave longevity to her career as a model and Marie would still be in great demand today as a catwalk model.
Marie’s superb organisational and communication skills led her onto the other side of modelling and into production of Shows and Shoots for many of the clients for whom she had worked as a model. Her professional approach and eye for detail brought a wealth of success in this area.
Gardening was always a very huge interest of Marie’s and she spent a lot of her free time in the garden. So much so that she decided to go back and study horticulture. In 2007 Marie graduated from the College of Amenity Horticulture National Botanic Gardens. Considered by some as a strange career path it has proven to be one of the best decisions Marie has ever made. It affords her the opportunity to be creative, drawing on her experiences seeing how designers mix texture and colour to create wonderful and exciting combinations which inspires her to be as experimental as she can with her own garden designs.
Through her experience on TV as a model and her extensive horticultural knowledge Marie co- hosted a one hour TV special “Another Avenue” for Bloom 2009 with Paul Martin which, gave the viewer an insight into the amazing ways gardens are created.
